Merry Christmas!

Friends, with so many challenges in the world and in our daily lives, we might reflect this year on the imperfection of that first Christmas.  Poor accommodations; no midwife to help Mary in her delivery; animals instead of family members to greet the new child; a quick departure to Egypt to escape Herod, etc.  We tend to romanticize the Christmas story, as we should to a certain extent.  But it was also a rather small, imperfect, less than ideal set of circumstances that surrounded our Lord’s birth.  In the midst of the imperfect, God brought something extraordinary out of the ordinary.  As we celebrate this Christmas in the midst of small, imperfect, less than ideal circumstances, let us ask God to do something extraordinary in our hearts as He did in that manger long ago.

Merry Christmas,

Fr. Jeremy
